X-ray photoabsorption-induced processes within protonated rifamycin sodium salts in the gas phase

Up to now, the response of antibiotics upon ionizing radiation has been very scarcely reported. Here, we present results X-ray photoabsorption experiments on isolated rifamycin, a broad-range antibiotic against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. A mass spectrometer coupled synchrotron beamline analyze cationic products protonated rifamycin dimer monomer sodium salts. Absorption single photon in 100–300eV energy range leads ionization molecular system, followed by vibrational deposition subsequent inter- and/or intramolecular fragmentation. Interestingly, observe proton transfer from sodiated widely observed process ionized systems gas phase. Moreover, show that another charge-transfer occurs both monomer: transfer, which not reported yet, best our knowledge.
